The base is made of a beautiful and practical hardwood - steamed European beech which has been oiled for protection. It is FSC/PEFC certified being produced from well-managed forests.

The frame is made of brushed stainless steel which provides strength and durability. It is attached to the base by four stainless steel pins which can be easily removed without the need for tools. This allows the frame to be detached from the base. There are four small clear rubber feet on the underside of the base for non slip purposes.
The bread slicer is designed to be compact, taking up the minimum amount of valuable kitchen work top space. The frame and base are just big enough to accommodate the largest loaf made in a home bread maker machine and it can also be used for shop-bought un-sliced bread. The slice width is the optimum for usage with firm or soft bread (soft/warm bread slices tend to be thinner).
